COFETEL Introduction

COFETEL stands for Comission Federal de Telecomunicaciones (Mexico), is a telecom regulatory body of Mexico which is responsible for regulating, promoting and overseeing the telecom and broadcast services in Mexico.

COFETEL certifications are only granted to companies that are established in Mexico. The local company that will be the certificate holder must be registered with COFETEL and the certification entity (NYCE).

COFETEL Process

• Provide sample of the product to the local Mexican representative company
• The use manual should be in Spanish
• All documents submitted to COFETEL must be in Spanish

COFETEL Timing

Generally lead time for getting COFETEL regulation certificate is about 6 weeks.

COFETEL Costs

Manufacturers need to get quotes from local Mexican companies for COFETEL certification.
